The New York City Fire Department broke out their drone for the first time during one of their calls this week.

According to the department, the fire broke out early Monday evening in an apartment building in the Bronx. They used the drone to determine the condition of the roof. The $85,000 UAV is equipped with high definition and infrared cameras.

"FDNY Deputy Assistant Chief Dan Donoghue says crews knew to move when the drone's visual feed captured the apartment roof beginning to fail," reported the Associated Press.
